Kurt Heidenberger is Professor and Chair emeritus, Department of Innovation and Technology Management, University of Vienna, Austria. He received an M.A. in Mathematics, a Ph.D. in Economics and Social Science, and the habilitation in Business Administration, all from the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany.

Professor Heidenberger's research interests included applications of management science and decision-support systems to issues of strategic management, innovation/technology management, and health policy. His work has been published extensively, in such journals as Operations Research, European Journal of Operational Research, OR Spectrum, Socio-Economic Planning Sciences, IMA Journal of Management Mathematics, Methods of Information in Medicine, Medical Decision Making, Health Care Management Science, International Journal of Healthcare Technology and Management, International Journal of Technology Management, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, International Journal of Management Reviews, and Zeitschrift fuer Betriebswirtschaft.

Professor Heidenberger has served as Chair for the Health Applications Working Group of the German Society for Operations Research from 1983 to 1994. He had extensive experience in research and consulting with major corporations, government agencies, and international institutions such as the World Health Organization. His professional memberships included the Society for Medical Decision Making, Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences, and the German Society for Operations Research.
